To find a complete list of spyware, viruses,
file sharing programs and other FORBIDDEN applications go to : http://www.unwantedlinks.com/index.htm
To
Remove:
Save your important files. Reformat
the hard drive and then install Windows 2000 or XP Professional. (The
Computer Doctor will help you to accomplish this task.)
|
Internet & Email Account:
Two Internet Service Providers (ISP
accounts)
|
RESTRICTION: Satellite Internet Service Providers are
NOT allowed
Why? You need a primary account
for normal use and a second account for backup (in case the primary
fails).
|
|
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: ADSL,
Cable modem or any other fast access method for the primary account.
|
|
WARNING: NEVER USE THE INSTALLATION DISKS PROVIDED BY
THE ISP.
|
|
Why? These disks install unwanted applications and may
crash your computer
|
|
RESTRICTION: DO NOT
USE “FREE” EMAIL SERVICES. Use
the email service provided by your ISP
Microsoft Outlook Express (comes free with Internet
Explorer) or Microsoft Outlook will need to be configured to retrieve
your email
|
|
Why? The “free” email
services are not reliable for your important business communications, and
do not support reliable transmission of attachments. Outlook Express and
MS Outlook consistently work with the Convenience Leave Email Form.
|
|
|
Email Account with Attachment Capabilities
Mail Box Capacity 5 Megabytes minimum
|
|
Battery
Backup:
UPS/Battery Power Supply for 15 min duration, including
surge suppressor.
Why? The UPS will protect your computer
from short power surges. If your power goes off, then you have time to shut
down your computer while the UPS is in operation.
|
Computer Networking:
RESTRICTION: Hard wired Networking
of multiple computers is allowed but not SUPPORTED. FORBIDDEN:
Wireless Networking for service on the Willow network. The penalty is Termination. This is an extreme security hazard.
The
Computer Doctor will help you to setup a Hard Wired network.
